I'm all for the lock-out timer if someone leaves.
And if the team /resigns avoiding a lockout timer.
It'll cut down on leavers significantly.

And to anyone here who says they'd leave because they are in a group with people with dumb builds or no healer, or stupid players......

Why play in RA and not TA?!?
I bet it's because you want to fight opposing groups who have dumb builds, no healer, or stupid players in order to get glad points.

Edit:Seriously rework how glad points are earned. lol

I've had matches between good teams that lasted longer than 3-5 minutes and weren't boring - at that point it's a pressure game and that's not a bad thing.

Honestly, you should be able to unlock 2 of those skills in about 30 minutes - if you can't then there's a good reason people are quitting your team.

If u don't pressure somebody to surrender within 5 minutes then u don't have a lot of pressure, or they have a holding build, that may finally collapse or not (due whatever reason, being mistakes, negligence, ignorance).

In this case the one who did most pressure (read damage done (being life stealing, damage and degen) will still win, utilities have still a place in this build, as a good mesmer (or any utility build) can blow holes in their offense as well as defense.

Personally I think everything over 5 minutes is too long, but then this is just a very minor disagreement which can be discussed about. The big issue we agree on is that there is a timer, and that we won't have to leave due some silly grieving build that for one or another reason we cant defeat.

Stupid players are as much a handicap as fighting 3v4, or 2v4 if you have two of them. If you load up and it's only 2 of you verses a capable team of 4 anyone with half a brain wouldn't kid themselves they could win, and would leave. Same rule applies when ditching stupid players.

I glad with no self heals and no monk or monk equivalent occasionally. Just as often as I do with self heals and no monk or monk equivalent.

Which brings me to my next question - what are some of the "must have" skills for RA? Are these two the *only* skills a ranger needs in order to not suck?

And for the 5th freaking time, I'm not just complaining about people leaving my team. I get just as irritated of people leaving the opposing team. What the heck does my noobness have to do with the *other* team leaving?

I agree that something has to be done. RA is not fun anymore for the casual player

Selfish idiot? I leave to win and save myself the trouble of getting killed in a ridiculous way. I do not leave for the sole purpose of leaving and to annoy people like that guy was.

Random or not, GW was obviously not designed to work in a random way, as some classes are clearly overpowered in a 1v1 scenario(which is what it really comes down to, more often than not, when you have no healer).

But with that mentality, why not go to TA instead of trying to sync with a good team in RA?

Because you don't always have 3 other friends online that like to TA or let alone 3 friends that just like to TA.

What I had in mind was going to TA and form a party. That way you can ensure you will be matched up with players suitable of your caliber.

Did you actually go to TA before? There is barely anyone looking for a party there and most of those looking have no idea what they are doing.

Aw cmon, what? Someone's running around deleting my posts now? :/ I don't think I posted anything offensive and I haven't received any notices.
Edit: My bad, guess it was the screenshot. I've uploaded a new edited version and took the old one down. It was a response to the above post, a screenshot of the team arena as of about 30 minutes ago.

I'll conclude with this and admit defeat;
Imo, if you do not want to end up with 'noobs' on your team or want to play with your friends or guildies, it would make sense to go to team arena and form a team there. Even if there are noobs in TA as well, one would assume the amount there is far less than in RA.

I always assumed RA was the place for us noobs to go to for some quick and silly fun, not a place to take seriously and worry about offending your teammates because you suck. If RA is not the place of which to dabble in pvp, I don't know what is.

The occasional leaver doesn't bug me, people who leave after the match has started is to be expected in any game. What I dislike with how RA currently works is the sheer amount and frequency of people who will leave before the gates open. I'm equally as irritated by my opposing team leaving as I am with my own, as I do not enjoy winning a 4v3 any more than losing a 3v4.

I'll still play RA, but it would be infinitely more fun if 50% of the matches weren't decided before they actually started. I do not consider leaving until you end up in a "good enough" team to be "random" at all. At least if you end up with 3 mending w/mos on your team, there might still be a chance that your opposing team consists of an equally as rubbish build.

Yeah I think they did a double attack on RA satire thread and the other thread. The mod does'nt like RA yet he's playing it. I think they moved us and did a lock so people could'nt see my title. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...0175834&page=4 How come the other thread got closed for being an RA thread yet this one still lives? I sense conspiracy.

But whats the point really? Do you seriously enjoy playing with AND against a rubbish team? Even if you win the first match because the other team has an even more rubbish team, you will lose the next one so whats the point?

Who the heck said that was my pvp character? That is my pve character, which should be obvious by the non-pvp dyes. I mentioned this in my first post which got deleted, shame on me for forgetting to mention it again. If you had actually read some of my previous posts, you would have seen that I don't even pvp with my dervish.

How the flying fork would I be able to take a screenshot of the team arena without actually going there? Why does it matter which character I took the screenshot of? Why are you attacking my build when I'm posting a screenshot to illustrate that the team arena is populated?

I'm all for discussion and agreeing to disagree, but I just lose patience with arguments like these.

Of course TA is populated. No one said otherwise, but taking a screenshot of 1 person looking for a team certainly doesn't prove that getting glad points through TA with a pug would be faster and/or easier than doing it in RA.

Yeah, I guess that's the core of it all; some of us play to pvp for the sake of it and just don't enjoy asymmetrical matches, others play to grind titles. I don't see why either of those opinions should hold less weight than the other, which is why I'd really love some form of duplicate RA where you just couldn't earn glad points. Call it "rookie arena" or whatever.

this thread was moved and ninjad some by me, flames, offtopic, leavers posting were removed. RA threads are actually not allowed on this board, and i was asked to leave it here because it had some nice ideas, but if you badmouth me some more i'm surely going to change my mind.

also, the post was deleted because the name contained millions of names.

now, no more of this trash, don't push me and keep the topic good. a fix to RA would be nice, so new players can actually learn there instead of it being a scrubfest. that's all i want.

(btw, the other thread was the dumbest piece of...ever, go read it and you'll understand how it is different from this.)
